Adewale Sotubo. Ph.D
Dr. Adewale Sotubo is a leading voice in bioclimatic architecture and sustainable envelope design. With a Ph.D. in Architecture & Design Research from Thomas Jefferson University—and dual master’s degrees in interior architecture and construction management, his work fuses material science, climate-responsive simulation, and urban-scale energy strategy.
Dr. Sotubo is best known for pioneering frameworks around Textile Double-Skin Façade (TDSF) systems, developing zone-specific clone simulations that optimize energy performance across Hot Desert, Tropical Wet & Dry, and Humid Subtropical climate zones. His research integrates advanced coatings such as Aerogel, PCM, and ETFE, and employs tools like EnergyPlus and Revit to model cavity ventilation, solar insolation, and passive thermal resilience.
Featured in the upcoming volume Sorption: Theoretical Aspects and Practical Applications (IntechOpen), Dr. Sotubo’s published work expands the conversation from traditional architecture into the realm of responsive envelope theory, positioning facades as sorptive membranes capable of regulating heat, moisture, and occupant comfort.
As the founder of STB Designs & Construction Management, he is now applying his academic insights to real-world urban design—championing sustainable projects that marry design innovation with ecological intelligence.
